This hardened and tempered stainless steel 6"/150mm flexible rule made by Shinwa has a non-glare hard chrome coating and Imperial and Metric graduations. It has dimensions of 175mm x 15 mm x 0.5 mm and is made from SUS420J2 Stainless Steel. The black graduations are first photo etched and then colored using a black chrome plating process to create an easy to read marking that is much more durable than paint or ink marking using a laser.
Shinwa have almost 90% of the market share in Japan for precision rules. They have both JIC and JCSS certification and their rules are made to the requirements of JIS B7516 Grade 1. The length accuracy of the graduations at 20°C is ±0.15 mm (0.006") for rules up to 500 mm in length. The squareness of the scale end face of the rule with respect to the scale side face is less than 0.035mm (0.0014") per 10 mm of length of the scale end face.
A very good value in a small precision ruler with dual graduations - 1/32" and 1/64" scales for imperial and 1 mm and 0.5 mm for metric. Because of it's very low cost, it is also an ideal ruler for those who use David Charlesworth's "ruler trick" when sharpening.
An optional ruler stop is also available separately for this ruler.
